OHIO 1984 Cold Case Solved After 29 Years — DNA Finally Named Her Killer
On December 6, 1984, 14-year-old Gloria Pointer left her home in Cleveland, Ohio, on her way to school. She never arrived. Her body was later discovered in a stairwell, and the investigation into her murder would remain unsolved for nearly three decades.
For years, Gloria's family waited for answers while investigators continued searching for the person responsible. Advances in DNA testing eventually changed the case. Evidence recovered from Gloria's clothing produced a DNA profile that was eventually entered into Ohio's database.
In 2013, nearly 30 years after the murder, the DNA profile matched Hernandez Warren, who was already in the database. Warren was arrested and later pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and rape. He received a sentence of life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 30 years.
In this video, we'll follow the original investigation, the decades-long search for answers, the DNA breakthrough, the identification of the suspect, and the court proceedings that finally resolved Gloria's case.
