In this talk presented at NONOG 8 in Oslo, OpsMill Product Manager Wim Van Deun shows how to make design-driven automation real by unifying customer-facing service (CFS) intent and resource-facing service (RFS) implementation in a single, versioned graph.
Service abstraction breaks when CFS data and RFS implementation live in different systems. Wim maps Infrahub to the Network Automation Forum reference architecture and focuses on the building blocks that close the gap:
→ Flexible schema defined in YAML so you can model services the way your business actually defines them, with an auto-generated GraphQL API and UI
→ Declarative, idempotent Generators that translate service intent into technical objects without losing relationships so you can evolve services safely
→ Artifacts to render device configs and other outputs from data, keeping configs tied to the service and implementation that produced them
→ Built-in version control with branches and Proposed Changes so you can review diffs, enforce policy with CI checks, and query history
