I spent the summer designing and building the M32—an open-source, four-layer STM32F446RET6 development board shaped like the University of Michigan “M.” This project was completed through the University of Michigan–Dearborn SURE 2026 program as part of UM-Embed: an open-source modular embedded-systems platform for teaching, research, and student engineering projects. 🔗 M32 hardware files and documentation: https://github.com/ResulKasym05/M32-D... The project includes: • Custom STM32F446RET6 development board • Four-layer PCB design • USB-C power, programming, and serial communication • Custom DRV8212 dual-motor-driver shield • ESP8266 Wi-Fi control • LSM6DSO IMU/gyroscope • TMP117 temperature sensor • OLED display • Battery-voltage measurement • RGB LED and buzzer • M32 101 beginner guide • Custom Wi-Fi-controlled demonstration robot using RemoteXY In this video, I share the entire journey—from asking how to join SURE, surveying UM-Dearborn professors, researching components, and designing the PCB to rerouting the M32 four times, hand-soldering 15 boards, debugging the system, building the robot, and presenting everything at the SURE 2026 Showcase. This project taught me that engineering is not about knowing every answer before beginning. It is about continuing to search for the answer when nothing seems to make sense. A huge thank-you to my research mentor, Dr. Guilherme Vieira Hollweg, for trusting my idea and supporting me throughout this project. I also want to thank Mr. Ray for helping with the M32 car design and custom Resul Robotics polo shirt. If you enjoyed the project, please like the video, subscribe, and share it with another engineering student. Your support helps me continue designing PCBs, robots, power electronics, and embedded systems. #STM32 #PCBDesign #EmbeddedSystems #ElectricalEngineering #SURE2026 #Robotics #M32 #UMDearborn #AltiumDesigner #Engineering
