Forming Our First Tagalog Sentence (E13)

This video tutorial is the start of discussions on Tagalog grammar, sentence construction and word order, beginning with simple sentence patterns that can be used to construction simple Tagalog sentences. These patterns are: • Si + Subject + ay + Predicate • Ang + Subject + ay + Predicate • Sina + Subject + at + Subject + ay + Predicate • Ang mga + Subject + at Subject + ay + Predicate These patterns will help any student of the Tagalog language appreciate the simplicity of forming Tagalog sentences with understanding how subjects and predicates work in Tagalog. The examples, in this video uses sentences in the singular and plural forms as well as using adjectives, verbs and nouns as predicate. One important lesson here is on reduplication—that is repeating syllables to convey a change in the tense. In this video, we discuss how adjectives change through the reduplication of a syllable when the word is used in the plural form.
