The central and the most important piece in a Bharatanatyam performance is the Varnam. It consists of Jathis and Abhinaya alternatively. Today’s Varnam narrates the story of Lord Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva. He is the one who has Deivanai and Valli as consorts.
