Oyster Dome & Lily Lake Loop From Samish Overlook - Hiking in Washington

Day hike from Samish Overlook in Bow, WA to Oyster Dome & Lily Lake Loop. Beautiful hike that cut off a few miles and a lot of elevation by starting at the Samish Overlook compared to starting at Chuckanut Drive. We arrived a little after noon and, even though it was a weekday, the trailhead was full of parked cars. We delayed out hike in order to sit back and watch the hang gliders take off from the Overlook. Truly incredible to watch so closely, plus had some great conversations with the gliders. After watching the last of them take off, we headed out climbing to Oyster Dome, which had spectacular views at the top. Finishing a late lunch we continued to Lily lake and completed the loop, which unfortunately was in the dark, but the night led to more unique views of the town below with cars and streetlights twinkling like the distant stars in the sky.
