CHIKANGAWA PLANE CRASH INQUIRY CONTINUES | WITNESS HEARINGS ON 27TH AUGUST 2026 The Ad Hoc Committee investigating the tragic Chikangawa plane crash that claimed the life of former Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima and eight others continues hearing witnesses as the inquiry progresses. In today's proceedings, Thursday, 27th August 2026, the Committee is hearing testimony from former Meteorologist Olive Chavunguma, who is providing information regarding the meteorological conditions and aviation weather on the day of the tragic crash, 10th June 2024. The Committee is also examining how aviation weather information was generated, interpreted and disseminated to the relevant authorities on the day of the accident. Later this afternoon, the Committee is scheduled to hear from the Officer-in-Charge of Mzuzu Airport, Emma Gondwe, who is expected to provide evidence relevant to the ongoing investigation.
