I've watched this film a lot. This last time through, I noticed something I'd always somehow missed. It's a movie about loneliness. And it has an answer for it that I've never heard anybody give. It isn't building confidence. It isn't putting yourself out there. It's the thing everybody in Walter's life writes off as his quirky little habit.
