Gallbladder Ultrasound Normal Vs Acute Cholecystitis | Gallstones, Sludge, Thickened GB Wall USG
Acute Cholecystitis:
Increased wall thickness (Greater than 3mm)
Sonographic Murphy’s sign – maximal tenderness over the gallbladder when the probe is applied.
Pericholecystic fluid: Hypoechoic fluid collection around the gallbladder
Hyperechoic gallstones within gallbladder lumen with posterior acoustic shadowing.
Alternating echogenic and hypoechoic wall layers, often seen in acute hepatitis
Increased gallbladder wall vascularity on color doppler
Sludge: Non-shadowing low-level internal echoes within the gallbladder lumen
