The Portland Trail Blazers announced Friday, October 30, 2026 that Ja Morant sustained a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, revealed by imaging, and will be re-evaluated in four weeks. ESPN's Shams Charania reports Morant is out at least four weeks — at least the next 15 games, per ESPN. That is a re-evaluation checkpoint, not a return date. Morant grabbed at his left hamstring during a stoppage in the fourth quarter Thursday against his former team, the Memphis Grizzlies, left with 7:46 remaining, was ruled out shortly after, and did not return. He finished with 14 points and 3 assists in 23 minutes and is averaging 15.8 points and 5.5 assists in four games with Portland. Coach Micah Nori said Thursday that Morant felt a twinge and he hoped it was nothing major. For context, Hoops Rumors cites Jeff Stotts of In Street Clothes: since 2005-06, the average time lost for an in-season Grade 2 hamstring strain is 34.7 days — a league average, not a prognosis for Morant. Memphis won 124-103 behind rookie Cameron Boozer's first career triple-double, improving to 5-0 and handing Portland its first loss. Morant, 27, spent seven seasons in Memphis after being drafted No. 2 overall in 2019, winning Rookie of the Year and Most Improved Player and averaging a career-high 27.4 points per game in 2021-22, before being traded to Portland on June 29, 2026.
