You Smell Like Outside | Pastor Jamal Hegwood | Forward City Church

👀 You ever come in the house and somebody hit you with that, “Whew… you smell like outside”? Yeah… that’s what happens when you’ve actually been out there—living on assignment, walking in purpose, doing what you were sent to do. When Jesus sends you, He doesn’t need you to bring backup — He is the backup! In this message, we’re diving into Luke 9, where Jesus doesn’t just call the disciples—He sends them. But before He sends, He equips. He gives power and authority, but He also says, “Take nothing with you.” Why? Because what He gives is better than anything we could bring. 🚫 No stick = His protection 🚫 No food = His provision 🚫 No money = His control 🚫 No clothes = His covering You don’t need to prove yourself. You’re not going in your own strength. You’re not just called—you’re covered. You’re not speaking for yourself—you’re coming on behalf of Someone greater. 💥 Real power shows up with real character. 💥 The Kingdom ain’t just a destination—it’s a mission. 💥 You’ve been SENT. Now go walk like it—even if you smell like outside. ⏱️ Timestamps 00:47 – Luke 9:10–13a (NLT) 01:56 – You Smell Like Outside 06:56 – From Following to Being Sent 09:17 – Jesus Equips Before He Sends 09:29 – Luke 9:1 10:33 – Real Power Has Real Character That Matches It 11:01 – 1 Corinthians 4:19 12:53 – I’m Not Sending Myself, I’m Coming on Behalf of Someone Else 13:07 – You’re Covered, Not Just Called 16:24 – You Can Confront What Others Avoid 18:29 – You Don’t Need to Prove Yourself 22:29 – Proverbs 3:5–6 22:52 – Luke 9:3 25:56 – Walking Stick = Your Own Protection for His 26:11 – Food = Your Own Provision for His 26:28 – Money = Your Own Control for His 26:50 – Clothing = Your Own Covering for His 32:04 – When the World Encounters Us, They Should Smell That We've Been in the Tension 📖 Scriptures: Luke 9:1–13a, 1 Corinthians 4:19, Proverbs 3:5–6 📍 Stay Connected: #YouSmellLikeOutside #JamalHegwood #ForwardCity #SentOnAssignment #KingdomLiving #Luke9 #CoveredNotJustCalled Subscribe to the latest sermons: https://www.youtube.com/@TravisGreene...
