Inside the sanctum, a lamp flickers continuously — even though there is no visible airflow. This symbolizes the presence of the Vayu element. The temple is famous for Rahu-Ketu dosha pujas. Goddess Parvati is believed to have created this Lingam from river sand under a mango tree. Because it is made of earth, it is not bathed with water like other Lingams. The ancient mango tree inside the temple is believed to be over 3,500 years old.
