Label: Sound House Records This was an album made to support / promote Pete Seeger's Clearwater organization which was / is an effort to clean up the Hudson River in New York. By the 1960s, the Hudson River was polluted and unable to support organic life, until Pete Seeger, who lived very close to the river in Beacon, NY, created the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, an organization devoted to cleaning the river. As of 2026, there are still parts of the river that are not clean. However, water quality in the Hudson have improved dramatically since 1972. According to the liner notes, all proceeds from the sale of this record were used to promote interest in improving the Hudson River. "These artists contributed their talents to the CLEARWATER album, hoping to reawaken a love and pride in a river that once ran clear..."
