Before the Wrath Begins

Last time we worked our way to the sixth seal. The day of God’s wrath comes with the opening of the sixth seal, but at this point there is no indication of what comes when God pours out His wrath. That answer comes later. I said you might think that we would immediately move to the seventh seal. But I advised you that in fact the seventh seal contains seven trumpet judgments, and the seventh trumpet contains seven bowls or vials of God’s wrath. And there are other events interspersed within these various judgments. And before Scripture even addresses the seventh seal, there is something like a parenthesis, or a place where God presses pause for just a bit. We’re going to explore that parenthesis this morning.
