SeoulQuest '26: Meet Hyun

Meet Hyun, the guide who led our SeoulQuest 2026 history field trips, from the Joseon Dynasty all the way to modern Korea. Hyun spent his teenage years in Russia, lived in Berlin for eight years, and is finishing his PhD in law and criminology. He is scarily knowledgeable. One of my favorite stories: after our National Museum visit, the students sent him 82 questions, and he wrote paragraphs-long answers to every single one. Having Hyun with us at every major site was one of the biggest changes I made this year, and it made such a difference. SeoulQuest is the six-week academic summer program I run in Seoul for high school students (grades 9–12). Korean classes are at Ewha Womans University, we learn Korean history at the places where it actually happened, and every student gets their own Individualized Capstone Project (ICP) and a Korean university mentor.
