Aggro CANNOT beat this deck! Orzhov Vampires 75% Win Rate in Mythic | MTG Arena Standard MKM

I love Orzhov control, but unless you are using Outrageous Robbery, the deck lacks a strong source of card advantage. I typically lean on Sorin for that, but it’s not enough. On the other hand, Evelyn the Covetous is one of my favorite creatures in Standard, and in the right deck, the card advantage she gives can be amazing (see game 3 here where she “drew” 12 cards!). So I squeezed a vampire package into a WB control deck to try to get the best of both worlds. The deck has 8 sweepers to hold off aggro, plus Preacher, Edgar, and Sorin all have incidental life gain which really helps stabilize vs those fast decks. Murders at Karlov Manor brought us a couple of new additions — Soul Search replaces Duress as my discard spell of choice, primarily so that we can hit those pesky Zurgo & Ojutais that have been running around everywhere. And Vein Ripper is an impressive finisher, especially in the way it gives control decks a fit (check out game 4 for a great example!). Join me as we take this team of Vampires into the Mythic Standard queue and see what we can do together. 0:00 - Intro and Deck list 0:25 - Game 1 vs Boros Convoke 11:19 - Game 2 vs Mono Red 17:22 - Game 3 vs Orzhov Lifegain 31:25 - Game 4 vs UW Control 54:43 - Full results - 6-2 #mtgarena #mtg #magicthegathering Deck 2 Sorin the Mirthless (VOW) 131 1 Swamp (SLD) 1401 2 Edgar, Charmed Groom (VOW) 236 1 Plains (SLD) 1130 4 Temporary Lockdown (DMU) 36 4 Preacher of the Schism (LCI) 113 1 Vein Ripper (MKM) 110 3 Evelyn, the Covetous (SNC) 184 2 Deadly Cover-Up (MKM) 83 2 The Celestus (MID) 252 2 March of Wretched Sorrow (NEO) 111 2 Shadowy Backstreet (MKM) 268 4 Get Lost (LCI) 14 2 Path of Peril (VOW) 124 2 Virtue of Persistence (WOE) 115 4 Caves of Koilos (DMU) 244 2 Restless Fortress (WOE) 259 4 Shattered Sanctum (VOW) 264 2 Soul Search (MKM) 232 1 Takenuma, Abandoned Mire (NEO) 278 1 Eiganjo, Seat of the Empire (NEO) 268 3 Mirrex (ONE) 254 3 Field of Ruin (MID) 262 1 Plains (SLD) 1399 1 Plains (UNF) 240 1 Swamp (WOE) 264 1 Swamp (SLD) 1132 2 March of Otherworldly Light (NEO) 28
