Sometimes you’re not being denied what you want. Sometimes it’s just being made from scratch. 🍝 I recently came across a TikTok video about choosing between pasta and fries, and it reminded me of something I’ve been experiencing in my own life. We often base what’s possible for us on what we see around us. If everyone in our immediate environment is settling down, having kids, or following a particular path, we can start believing that’s all life has to offer. But somewhere else, someone is building a business, creating a different lifestyle, taking risks, and imagining something beyond what they’ve always known. Your environment can influence your perspective, but it doesn’t have to determine your possibilities. And sometimes choosing something different means taking the longer route. It means doing the healing, putting in the work, trusting your vision, and being willing to experience seasons where the results haven’t caught up with the decision you’ve made. I’ll be honest, this season has come with a lot of isolation, especially being away from family and navigating life in a new city. Some days it’s hard watching other people experience things that I’m still waiting for. But I’m learning that just because someone else’s food arrived before mine doesn’t mean I ordered the wrong thing.
