For years, high-end lifestyle audio has forced a compromise: you either settle for a plastic smart speaker that ruins your room's decor, or you clutter your space with a massive, multi-thousand-dollar rack of electronics. But the explosion of affordable, high-performance Class D chips is changing everything. Delivering pristine sound quality that rivals what used to cost several thousands of dollars just a few years ago, these miniaturized 2.1 channel amplifiers now give us the raw power to drive a high-end, three-box passive ecosystem from a single, budget-friendly desktop box. The Agave 2.1 Triptych was designed from the materials up to exploit this hardware evolution. Because the satellite monitors and the down-firing subwoofer were engineered hand-in-hand to complement one another's acoustic properties, they operate as a single, unified instrument. By offloading the electronics to an external Class D amplifier, we eliminate the heat and built-in obsolescence of integrated consoles, freeing the enclosures to be pure, uncompromising expressions of premium woodworking and natural geology. The result is a striking, modular statement piece that delivers a sprawling stereo image and deep low-end authority from a beautifully compact footprint. The Agave Blueprint & Technical Architecture: Monocoque Cabinet Architecture: An heirloom-grade trio of cabinets crafted from premium solid hardwood. Built entirely from wide, single planks with precision 45-degree fully mitered edges, the wood grain wraps seamlessly around the enclosures in a completely unbroken, continuous flow. The cabinets are hand-sanded all the way up to a mirror-like 2500 grit and finished with multiple coats of hand-rubbed oil to highlight the natural depth of the timber. Picture Sandstone Inlays: Genuine Arizona picture sandstone tiles are cut and inlaid directly into the lower front face of the monitors and a floating frame on the sub. This introduces a heavy, acoustically dead, mass-loaded anchor that stops mechanical driver resonance from bleeding into the wood, turning a natural desert landscape into a functional vibration damper. The 2.1 Silicon Engine: Fosi Audio BT30D Pro. This desktop amplifier utilizes dual Texas Instruments TPA3255 audiophile chips to output a dead-silent, distortion-free 165W x2 to the satellites and a massive 350W to the passive subwoofer path. It isolates the monitors from the heavy current draw of the sub, allowing you to mechanically dial in the crossover and low-pass blending right from the front panel. Satellite Monitors: Markaudio Alpair 5.3. A radical, high-efficiency 3-inch full-range driver featuring a spiderless design that completely removes traditional rear suspension components for unrestricted signal transfer. Weighing under 2 grams, its ultra-light copper-coned moving mass handles high frequencies with breathtaking, electrostatic-like micro-detail clarity. Monitor Alignment: To squeeze maximum low end out of a tiny 0.050 ft³ net internal volume, the satellites employ a specialized "Leach" alignment (Qtc = 0.62). This deliberate tuning pushes the natural bass roll-off as low as physically possible (F10 down to 70Hz), ensuring a seamless handoff to the sub while keeping transient response laser-fast. The Subwoofer: Wavecor SW146WA01 5-¾” paper cone sub. Chosen to balance the pristine clarity of the Alpair drivers, this sub features a symmetrical Balanced Drive Motor structure that suppresses harmonic distortion. Its linear stroke of ±6mm moves substantial air from an incredibly tight footprint. Sub Alignment: Housed in a sealed, down-firing 0.206 ft³ volume, the sub utilizes a critically damped alignment (Qtc = 0.665) targeting a system resonance of 59.5 Hz and an F10 reach of 34.2 Hz. The driver is recessed ½” inside a massive 1” thick bottom baffle and raised exactly 1” on isolation feet to load the floor and smooth room response. Internal Acoustic Treatment: Signals are delivered via heavy-duty pure copper binding posts into an internal chamber lined with 1" Sonic Barrier for total back-wave absorption.
