IVYSAUR: Ivysaur (National Dex #0002) is a dual Grass/Poison-type Seed Pokemon introduced in Generation I. As the middle stage of the Kanto region's Grass-type starter family, it evolves from Bulbasaur starting at level 16 and eventually evolves into Venusaur at level 32. PHYSICAL PROFILE AND SPECIFICATIONS: Classification - Seed Pokemon Height - 3'03" (1.0 m) Weight - 28.7 lbs (13.0 gkg) Gender ratio - 87.5% male, 12.5% female Primary type - grass/poison APPEARANCE: Ivysaur is a quadrupedal, amphibian-like pokemon featuring blue-green skin with darker patches scattered across its body. It has narrowed red eyes, pointed ears with black insides, and a wide mouth sporting two small, pointed teeth in its upper jaw. The small seed from its time as a Bulbasaur has grown into a large, pink plant bud resting on its back, on a bed of leafy green fronds. The considerable weight of the bud forces Ivysaur's legs to grow thick and sturdy, preventing it from running fast or standing up on its hind legs. BIOLOGY AND DIET: Ivysaur's biology is deeply tied to photosynthesis. It is primarily a phototroph, meaning it absorbs energy directly from the sunlight through the bud on its back to increase its physical strength. Because of this mechanism, Ivysaur can last many days without consuming real food. As it draws closer to evolution, the bud begins to swell and gives off a distinct, sweet aroma, signaling that the flower is ready to bloom. To prepare for its transformation into Venusaur, it instinctively spends long intervals basking in the sun. PERSONALITY AND BEHAVIOR: Because Ivysaur's is much more commonly found in captivity under the care of Trainers than roaming in the wild, its natural behavior remains somewhat mysterious. However, it is generally understood to be more aggressive and protective than Bulbasaur, though it remains intensively loyal to a Trainer it trusts. HABITAT AND HISTORY: Originally native to the Kanto region, Ivysaur's natural habitats are sun-drenched plains, grasslands, and fields with easy access to clean, fresh water. However, encountering a wild Ivysaur is an exceptionally rare event. Historically, it holds a legacy as one of the earliest designs finalized for the franchise during the original pitch phases.
