Nicola L. Hein - Imitation Game

Nicola L. Hein - Imitation Game Nicola L. Hein - Buchla 100 (#2 - Columbia University Computer Music Center) H0b3rt (A.I. Musician) - guitar The composition "Imitation Game" is based on the interaction of me playing the Buchla 100 and an A.I. machine musician, that by machine learning is trained on the sound of my guitar playing. Both are interacting with each other, forming a cybernetic human-machine system. Referring back to Alan Turing's imitation game and asking the question about the possible structure of a musical turing test, the piece develops the confrontation of me with a machine avatar of myself, walking along the line where the difference between human and machine disappears, binding together one of the first Buchla synthesizers ever built and contemporary experiments in A.I. in a historically overarching manner.
