Housatonic Railroad Delivers B&M SW 1 1127 to the Danbury Railway Museum

EMD SW-1 was built in August 1953 for the Boston & Maine Railroad. It was the only one of B&M's 24 SW-1s with MU capability. It served branches in central New Hampshire and around Deerfield, Massachusetts for many years. 1127 was sold to Pennsylvania shortline Luzerne & Susquehanna in 1996. In January 2024 it was learned that the 1127 was due to be scrapped. Danbury Railway Museum member Connor Maher started a GoFundMe campaign that raised $65,000 in just a few days to save 1127 from the scrappers torch. This video documents Housatonic Railroad freights NX-12 and NX-10 bringing the 1127 on the final few hours of its 2 1/2 year odyssey from Pennsylvania to Connecticut.
