As a woman, mother, wife, and most definitely a people pleaser, I realized how important it was to name what truly mattered to me.
I needed to create a list that reflected my truth, integrity, and uniqueness—not simply what others expected of me.
Our values act as an internal compass. They guide our decisions, shape our relationships, and help us recognize when something feels out of alignment.
In yoga, the yamas offer guiding principles for how we relate to ourselves and the world:
Ahimsa: non-violence and compassion
Satya: truthfulness and authenticity
Asteya: non-stealing and non-comparing
Brahmacharya: wise use of our energy
Aparigraha: non-possessiveness
Throughout this 40-day journey, we will look more deeply at ahimsa, satya, and asteya as pathways for embodying our intention of Love.
Embodiment extends beyond the physical. It is living in harmony with what we hold sacred.
Each time we pause and ask, “Does this align with my values?” we strengthen the connection between intention and action. Often, the guidance we seek already lives within us.
Today’s reflections:
What are your core values, and how do they guide your daily choices?
How do the yamas show up in your life as guiding principles?
Today’s practice:
Write down three of your core values. Choose one way to honor them today through your actions or words. Then notice which yama may be calling for deeper attention.
Love,
Dani
