Rustling silk and a kettle close to your ear — asmr japanese tea ceremony no talking, recorded binaurally in a quiet room in Japan. This is nakaoki again, the arrangement for the cooler season. As the mornings and evenings turn cool, the brazier is moved toward the centre — closer to the guest — so that the warmth of the fire reaches the person sitting in front of it. That is why the kettle sounds so near. Here in the north of Japan, the mornings are already cold. This time I am wearing an unlined tsumugi silk kimono. With no lining, every movement comes through as a soft, dry rustle — listen for it when I fold the silk cloth and reach for the tea bowl. My cat is purring beside me the whole way through, with a meow here and there. I left it in. No whispering, no music, no words. 🎧 Headphones recommended. The rustle of the kimono and the purring are quiet, so they are easiest to hear with headphones. ▬▬▬ Sounds in this video ▬▬▬ ・The kettle simmering close by (nakaoki) ・The rustle of an unlined tsumugi silk kimono as I move ・The silk cloth (fukusa) folded and snapped ・The bamboo whisk rinsed and tested in the bowl ・Matcha whisked in a Kyoto-ware tea bowl with a tsubotsubo pattern ・Water and hot water poured from the ladle ・My cat purring throughout, and a few soft meows ・Quiet room ambience, no music, no talking ▬▬▬ Chapters ▬▬▬ 0:00 Beginning the ceremony (a cat purring nearby) 0:37 The first meow 2:46 Rinsing the whisk 4:30 Whisking the tea 6:12 Beginning to put things away 8:10 Folding the silk cloth (fukusa) ▬▬▬ About this channel ▬▬▬ Japan Quietscapes is a Japanese ambience and soundscape channel — real, original recordings from a tea ceremony room and from quiet daily life in Japan.
