Mount Ararat (5137m) is the highest peak in Turkey, located in Ağrı Province near the borders with Armenia and Iran. It's a dormant volcano and, according to the Book of Genesis, the resting place of Noah's Ark. The mountain was first summited on September 27th, 1829, by Friedrich Parrot and his team. After spending the night at Camp 1, we continue our climb to Camp 2 at 4040 m. The following day, we wake up early at 2 a.m. and set off for the summit. We descend back to Camp 1 the same day. Unlike many of our previous climbs, Ararat cannot be climbed independently. A climbing permit and a licensed local guide are mandatory for all climbers, foreign and Turkish alike. ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ Our Route ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ Camp 1 (3320m) → Camp 2 (4040m) → Summit (5137m) → Camp 1 (3320m) → Doğubayazıt (1625m) ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ➠ Big thanks to Armytek for the flashlight featured in this video!
