Running this game on steam seems to close when the game launches and plays without steam running (unable to take steam screenshots etc) , to bypass this
1. First run the game on steam once and set up FFXI Config utility to match your systems settings
2. Download Windower- https://www.windower.net (this is what allows for 60 fps gameplay and what steam will target to run properly). Once downloaded place windower.exe into your Final fantasy XI folder
3. Make sure both steam and windower run in administrator mode or this wont work.
Then right click on windower and click copy as path then go to your final fantasy XI steam library page then click on settings icon then properties and paste into launch options then add %command%
The game will now run through steam properly and lists steam play time, able to steam screenshot (though the default screenshot key is taken so i recommend going into steam settings/in-game and change screenshot key to del)
4. To enable 60 fps. First, in windower enable the plugin Config, Then run the game through windower (steam method) if its your first time loading up the game, enter the game walk around then exit the game.
Relaunch the game and red wording will pop up to the left saying Plugin: Config, then while in game open up chat with spacebar and type //config FrameRateDivisor 1 then press enter. It will now be in 57-58 fps instead of the games locked 30 fps
Be aware, In some cutscenes that the game will hardlock when using fps, when that happens close then reopen game and type in the chat //config FrameRateDivisor 2 then press enter to return to 30fps until the cutscene ends then
