Taking a trip on the Paddle Steamer Waverley, the last seagoing passenger carrying paddle steamer in the world.
Starting at the Science Centre in Glasgow we will sail on the River Clyde 'doon the watter', into the Firth of Clyde, visiting Largs, Millport (Keppel pier), Brodick on the Isle of Arran, and then steaming round Ailsa Craig, the remnants of an ancient volcano.
We will see the large gannet colony (40,000 breeding pairs), before turning home via The Holy Isle in Lamlash Bay, Brodick and then ending in Largs.
Built by A&J Inglis shipbuilders in Glasgow and launched in 1946, the Waverley is now owned by by the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society. The historic vessel carries out scenic cruises in the Firth of Clyde, and to the Inner Hebrides, Northern Ireland, Wales, Devon, Cornwall, the south coast of England and even London.
