Can you turn raw heat into mechanical rotation using nothing but magnets and physics? In this video, I design and build a functional Thermomagnetic Engine, also known as a Curie Effect Motor. The science behind it is fascinating: The main rotor is made of a non-magnetic metal, but its outer rim is wrapped in pure nickel wire, which is naturally attracted to a powerful permanent magnet. However, when we heat the nickel with a blowtorch flame, it reaches its "Curie Temperature" (around 358°C or 676°F) and instantly loses its magnetic properties! This sudden drop in attraction destroys the magnetic balance, forcing the wheel to spin continuously as cool, magnetic nickel takes its place. 00:00 - The Mystery of Heat and Magnets 01:30 - What is the Curie Effect?
