The Tullamore distillery was founded in 1829 in the town of the same name in County Offaly in central Ireland. The name of the whiskey is made up of the town of Tullamore and the initials of the former distillery manager Daniel E. Williams: Tullamore D.E.W.. In the meantime, the distillery had to close for a full 60 years. Until it opened its doors again in 2014, Tullamore Whiskey was distilled at Midleton Distillery in County Cork.
