The Book of Joshua | S06E01 - Israel Crosses the Jordan

Season 6, Episode 1: Israel Crosses the Jordan Chapters 1–5 begin the Book of Joshua following the death of Moses, as Joshua is commissioned by the Lord to lead Israel into the Promised Land. God commands Joshua to be strong and courageous, promising to be with him just as He was with Moses as Israel prepares to cross the Jordan. Joshua sends two spies into Jericho, where Rahab hides them from the king’s men and declares her faith in the God of Israel. In return, the spies promise to spare Rahab and her household when Israel comes against the city. Israel then leaves its camp and approaches the overflowing Jordan River. As the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant step into the water, the Lord miraculously stops the river, allowing the entire nation to cross on dry ground. Twelve stones are taken from the Jordan as a memorial so future generations will remember what God did for Israel. After crossing into Canaan, the Israelites renew their covenant with God through circumcision and celebrate the Passover. The manna that had sustained Israel throughout the wilderness finally ceases as they begin eating the produce of the Promised Land. Near Jericho, Joshua encounters the Commander of the army of the Lord and falls before Him as Israel prepares for the conquest ahead.
