1997 CWBL Junior Final Highlights (mostly)

I guess two things have happened; we've grown up and wow the game has changed. Hard to distinguish between the two though. A few things to note... 1 - no anti-tip fifth or sixth wheels yet. I heard about them for the first time in the spring of '98, and had one added to my chair a few months later, on the eve of Worlds that fall. 2 - I'm playing on 27" wheels. Shortly after this tournament I switched to 26's and never went back (except for one brief return to 27's in 2011 when I started playing in a Top End, and also my little chair / 25" / 20 degree camber mid-career crisis (that was the most fun I've ever had...) 3 - able bodied players everywhere! We go way back with this stuff in Canada. David Eng is described at one point as an AB, as indeed he was, until it was discovered that he wasn't some years later. 4 - My teammate John Burns always had the greatest big game vibe. He was all smiles and bouncy energy, and would say things like "big game today baby!" No feigned confidence, no cocooning inside his noise canceling headphones. Just couldn't wait for tip off. 5 - I think I hit 7 threes, shot 2 airballs, and committed 3 of the most clueless, careless turnovers I've ever seen. Juniors was the best!
