Hudson Broadcast AP demo
Playing my Nik Huber Redwood Rietbergen Adam Miller Signature model with Lollar Gold Foils, Two-Rock Classic Reverb Signature, SE Voodoo VR1 Ribbon Mic
I sort of have a love/hate relationship with the Broadcast pedals - this is my second. There so instantly gratifying that I initially played with one (a 24v Ltd Ed) always on for a while, but I really didn’t like the sound m when listening back on recordings. I sold the pedal to make sure I wouldn’t use it! After talking with @ArielPosen and watching a few demos I decided to give this silicon variant a shot. It’s definitely similar, but is more versatile in its range of gain. It’s not a pedal I’ll use all the time, but it is a Swiss Army knife of gain tones, and I’ve very much enjoyed the ways I’ve been able to use it creatively at gigs and sessions.
Here I use it as a cleanish preamp, a touch sensitive drive (kind of the LA / ‘Blake Mills’ sound, minus harmonic trem), an overdrive, and a controlled fuzz. All sounds have that fuzzy overtone.
These demos are not meant to be comprehensive, but just an idea of how I tune and use pedals. This was recorded at home playing volumes, ie the master volume on my Two-Rock is at about 7 o’clock! I don’t really like to play any louder than about 9 o’clock on the master anyway (that’s plenty for show volume for me). The reverb is from the Two-Rock, with just a touch of room reverb in the box to give the single mic some stereo image spread.
