Istanbul, a night in 1963, crossed district by district: twilight in Bebek, smoke over Galata, rain in Karaköy, the cool of the Grand Bazaar after closing, Taksim after dark, the moon over Üsküdar, the shipyards of the Golden Horn — and the morning call to prayer at the end of it.
