Everything you need for driving in Europe, checked monthly: https://wrongsideoftheroad.co.uk Free 63-page guide to driving to Europe in 2026: https://wrongsideoftheroad.co.uk/guide Driving onto Irish Ferries at Dover for the crossing to Calais. The full process from arriving at the port, through check-in and the border, into the holding lanes and down onto the car deck. Plus a look around the ship once we were aboard, which is the bit I have not filmed properly before. Irish Ferries have been running Dover to Calais since June 2021, so they are the newest of the three operators on the route and the one people know least about, which is why I wanted to get it on camera. The route runs up to 20 sailings a day on two ships, Oscar Wilde and Isle of Inishmore. The crossing is about 90 minutes. They ask you to check in an hour before departure, or 90 minutes if you are travelling with a pet. There is a Pet Den if you would rather your dog came up with you than stayed in the car, which starts at £15 each way. We arrive at Dover, work through check-in, clear border controls, and get directed to our lane in the holding area. It was a quiet crossing, and we got moved onto an earlier sailing that was just finishing boarding, so we went almost straight on rather than waiting for our booked time. Worth knowing if you turn up early, because if there's space they will often put you on whatever is loading. Checked against the governments that make the rules and the companies that run the crossings. There is also a page listing everything I could not confirm, which is the reason you can trust the other sixty two. https://wrongsideoftheroad.co.uk/guide KIT I ACTUALLY USE UK Car Sticker: https://amzn.to/3Ur7ApZ Philips Road Map: https://amzn.to/3Upcbsx Travel Plug: https://amzn.to/3JybKpv The Rough Guide to Europe on a Budget: https://amzn.to/49Ubkoi If you have found this helpful you can support the channel by buying me a coffee ☕️ https://buymeacoffee.com/4kadventures Irish Ferries Dover Calais, Dover to Calais ferry, driving to France by ferry, English Channel crossing, Oscar Wilde ferry, Isle of Inishmore. 🎵 Copyrighted music licensed from Lickd. https://lickd.co Clocks by Coldplay, https://t.lickd.co/l/MaZn6yQLZ85 Natural Blues by Moby, https://t.lickd.co/l/OaPEb146J5q Pompeii by Bastille, https://t.lickd.co/l/BK7QNVPjlgY
