We Fell in Love in October | Jazz

VIONA — “We Fell in Love in October” Jazz ─────────────────────── LYRICS The clocks had just gone backward, the evenings came on fast, and I wasn't even looking for you — I was looking for a scarf I thought I'd lost. You were standing in a doorway with somebody's chimney smoke caught in your hair, and the whole month tilted toward us, and we stayed there. We fell in love in October, when the light was running out, when the trees were giving everything away and nobody made a sound. We never promised summer, we just promised one more hour — and the cold closed in around us like a hand around a flame. We fell in love in October. We walked the long way home twice, we let the coffee go cold, you said, "I'm no good at beginnings," I said, "Then we'll start in the middle, you and me." There's a photograph of nothing — just a bench, a coat, a corner — but I know the hour by the colour, and the colour is October. We fell in love in October, when the light was running out, when the trees were giving everything away and nobody made a sound. We never promised summer, we just promised one more hour — and the cold closed in around us like a hand around a flame. We fell in love in October. They say that love should come in spring, with all that green, with everything, but I don't trust a thing so sure it's going to last. Give me the season that knows it's leaving, give me the gold already going, give me you in the shortening light, moving fast. We fell in love in October, and whatever came of us, there's a street I cannot walk down without my whole chest going warm. You can have the rest of the story, you can have the way it ended — I am keeping the part where the leaves came down and neither of us ran for cover. We fell in love in October. Still October, somewhere it's still October... we fell in love in October. ─────────────────────── CREDITS Written, produced & performed by VIONA ℗ & © 2026 VIONA.
