Jetboil MicroMo Review: Fast Boil, Low Fuel, One Real Flaw

For years the Jetboil MicroMo has gone on every trip, summer and winter. Two things stay true: it boils a full cup on very little fuel, and the lid still won't stay put when you pour. Jetboil MicroMo, REI: https://rei.pxf.io/09Rd1P Amazon: https://amzn.to/3MRWQNo One change since filming: the MicroMo now ships in a different colour (Carbon) than the one shown here. Same system, same 0.8-liter cup. What keeps it in the pack is fuel economy. An integrated system like the MicroMo uses noticeably less gas per boil than a standard canister stove, which is often the difference between one small canister covering a trip and carrying a second one you didn't need. Working out how much fuel that actually takes, boils per day against grams per boil, is part of the trip-preparation planning I document. The free field guide for it is in my Field Guide Library below. The stove also has one honest flaw and I left it in: the lid works loose, and I hold it whenever I pour. WHAT YOU'LL SEE How the whole system packs down, with the burner, stand, and a small gas canister nested inside the cup A full 0.8-liter (27 oz) cup brought to a boil in just over two minutes The lid coming loose mid-pour, the one flaw I've lived with rather than fixed A run through the Jetboil accessories, including the pot support I own and never use Reliable doesn't mean flawless. It means knowing exactly where the one weak point is and deciding it's worth carrying anyway. FIELD GUIDE LIBRARY Free outdoor gear guides and preparation systems: https://field-guides.subscribepage.io Some of this planning comes straight from preparing for a Sierra 14er attempt, where carrying the right amount of fuel, and no extra weight, matters more than it does on an overnighter.
