A cover story can fill a room. The clue that breaks it may fit on a swab.
In Episode 11 of Crime, Lies & Alibis, Kiki follows the evidence in the Helle Crafts and Sherri Rasmussen cases: hair fragments and fibers, a preserved biological swab, microscopic examination, and DNA comparisons that helped expose false explanations.
We separate what each forensic result supported from what it could not establish alone. The episode also distinguishes DNA recovered from a bite-site swab from identifying a person by the shape of a bite mark, and examines why sample history and corroborating evidence matter.
Includes original English audio from Stephanie Lazarus's June 5, 2009 pre-arrest interview, authentic archival photographs, and clearly labeled NIST illustrations. The legal update reflects reporting published October 9, 2026; later parole admissions are not presented as statements from the 2009 interview.
