Mount Rainier — Meany Crest to Panhandle Gap

Meany Crest towers above Summerland Meadow in Mount Rainier National Park. In this video, we scramble from the Summerland Shelter to Meany Crest, then traverse the upper rim of the cirque all the way to Panhandle Gap. This route demands solid scrambling and route-finding skills, as steep, loose rock and hidden hollows must be respected. Be sure to tread lightly—the vegetated areas below the glaciers are fragile.
