God's Final Word | Hebrews 1:1–4

What if God's final word to humanity is not simply something God said, but someone God gave us to see? In this message from Park Christian Church, Rev. Gabe Pfefer explores Hebrews 1:1–4 as the conclusion of our September series, “Christ: The Wisdom of God.” The writer of Hebrews begins by reminding us that God has always been speaking. Through prophets, Scripture, promises, wisdom, and generations of faithful people, God has revealed himself in many times and in many ways. But then Hebrews tells us: “In these last days he has spoken to us by a Son…” Jesus is not simply another messenger bringing us information about God. Hebrews describes him as the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of God's being. Jesus doesn't merely tell us what God is like. Jesus shows us what God is like. We explore what it means for God's wisdom to become visible and personal in Jesus: the one through whom all things were made, the one who sustains all things, the one who entered our human suffering, the one who made purification for sins, and the one who now reigns at God's right hand. We also return to the image from the previous week's message, “What Are You Building?” Before we ask: What am I building? Hebrews invites us to ask: Who am I looking at while I build?
