Test your hiragana reading with 200 everyday Japanese nouns! Each word appears for 5 seconds — try to read it before the timer runs out. Then see the romaji, the English meaning and a picture, and hear the word spoken twice by two native-style voices (female and male).
The words get harder level by level, so you can see exactly where your reading is strong and where you need practice:
📗 Level 1 – Basic hiragana, 2 letters (ねこ, やま, ほん)
📘 Level 2 – Basic hiragana, 3–4 letters (さかな, つくえ, ひまわり)
📙 Level 3 – Voiced marks ゛゜ (たまご, めがね, ともだち)
📕 Level 4 – Small ゃ ゅ ょ (でんしゃ, おちゃ, としょかん)
📓 Level 5 – Small っ and long vowels (がっこう, きって, おかあさん)
How to practise:
1. Say each word out loud before the timer ends.
2. Pause the video if you need more time — that's fine!
3. Watch again in a few days and see how many more you can read.
Tell us in the comments: how many of the 200 could you read? 👇
