We Adopted a Donkey! | McGregor Village, Donkey Sanctuary & Ultimate Braai - Braai Adventures

Welcome to Braai Adventures Vlog 23! In this episode, we head out on a road trip to the magical village of McGregor in the Western Cape, a place filled with history, welcoming locals, and the kind of small-town charm that completely surprised us. We start the day exploring the village, learning more about the history of McGregor and the people who make this little town such a special destination in the Western Cape. Along the way we stop at local markets, craft spots, and village pubs, soaking up the relaxed atmosphere that makes McGregor feel like a hidden gem. One of the most memorable parts of the trip is visiting the incredible McGregor Donkey Sanctuary, where rescued donkeys are given a safe and caring home. Spending time with these amazing animals was something truly special, and by the end of the visit we were so inspired that we decided to adopt one of the donkeys ourselves. We also enjoy a fantastic village breakfast before heading out to explore even more of this beautiful area. To end off the adventure the only proper way we know how — we light a fire and have a proper South African braai. On the menu are ribs, chicken, and some seriously good braai broodjies, cooked over the coals while we reflect on just how magical this little village turned out to be. What stood out most to us in McGregor was the warmth of the people and the sense of community. It’s the kind of place that reminds you how special small towns can be.
