On an October Saturday, I rolled out to Dallas Oregon to poke around in Polk County Oregon for beauty, and to search for some gravel adventure in a place I had not really explored before. It was a choice made out of necessity, but it turned out to be one of my favorite routes of the entire year. You can check out the loop here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/57223547 You can get Hamilton Forest permits for recreation (free) here: https://www.hamptonlumber.com/recreat... This route goes through Weyerhauser, Hamilton, and Hancock lands so there are several layers of maps you should check out before riding it. This route also takes you through a couple of little sections of the Siuslaw National Forest, and then down through the Black Rock Mountain Bike Area outside of Falls City Oregon. I was very impressed by the quality of the gravel, the beauty of the terrain, and just how quiet and nice this area was, it made me wonder why I hadn't made my way out here much earlier in the year. As always do your due diligence before heading out into the woods, but I am wide open to more suggestions on routes in this area, these roads were awesome and it was pretty easy to get to all things considered. Also, here is an article with a little bit more information about the patchwork of Oregon's Coast range from OSU (go beavs): https://osupress.oregonstate.edu/blog... Not sure how many more videos I'm going to be able to put together before the rain descends and my riding becomes a little more tame for the winter season. It has been a blast making these videos this year and I'm grateful not only for the opportunity to try something new and creative, but also for all the support and kind words. I hope that you have all had a great year riding bikes, and I look forward to getting out on the forest a couple more times (here's hoping!) as well as getting jazzed for what should be another great year in 2027.
