Ustad Habib-ud-din Khan, “The Mount Everest of the Harmonium” represented the Kirana Gharana, born in Khhatoli, India. He was from well known lineage of musicians and Indian classical Singers. He received his early training from his great paternal uncle Karim-ud-din khan and later developed his restricted skills under the tutelage of Ustad Bahre Waheed Khan. Characteristics of Habib-ud-din Khan’s harmonium include systematic barrat, excusive ghamaks and most fascinatingly taan patterns that were used to be played with dexterity and never fail to arouse adulation of discerning listener.
