Well lets kick off 2022 here on GB Productions with some more car repair work, and after a long hiatus we're back on Greg's 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI. Filmed in November 2021, this time we're going about replacing the radiator along with the headlight lenses. We're taking a bit of a different approach to the presenting in this video in an attempt to try and get running time and shear number of videos down so we are forgoing a lot of explanation and exposition here and just getting right into removing pieces. This video is essentially a quick guide to getting all the parts off down to the radiator mount. If you need any further explanation, drop a comment, and Greg will respond with more detailed information!
In this case, getting to the radiator isn't that bad, if it was a relatively new vehicle, but this one is 20 years old and therefore many of the bolts have rusted up and become seized over the years. For example, removing the bumper cover, we broke two of the five big internal hex bolts. Luckily Greg has some parts cars available which meant he had some replacement bolts (as we'll mention in a later part of this set of videos). For the most part though, we were surprised how well most of the fasteners came undone.
If you're here just looking at replacing the radiator, I don't think removing the headlights are necessary, we're removing them simply because it's convenient for us to put the replacement lenses on as changing them requires removing the bumper cover.
