Let's continue with the Detroit trip content with some office buildings from Southfield, MI. Southfield has some office buildings with some very neat elevators, so keep your eyes peeled throughout the next week! To begin, let's visit The American Center, a 25 floor skyscraper on the northwest side of the city. This massive office building originally housed Westinghouse elevators, but they were primarily modernized with Schindler Miconic 10! Miconic 10 is always fun to see, and they are becoming more and more rare every day as most are upgraded to PORT. The building consists of both a low and high rise set, where each set contains 6 cars. 5 of the cars in each set are passenger elevators on the Miconic 10 system, and one is a service car with conventional controls. With the exception of the service cars, the high rise serve floors 2 - 25, and the low rise serve floors 1 - 16. This video also features a lobby car that serves the underground parking garage and second floor that is still mostly original! It's awesome that this one survived, but let's be honest: the Miconic 10's are the main attraction. These elevators are a great example of why Schindler's old modernizations were high quality (especially compared to the modern stuff Schindler builds today). All of the cars are in extremely nice condition, run very well, and are very efficient for the height. I definitely think Miconic 10 was a great choice here, and it seems they have no plans to upgrade these! These are maintained incredibly well. Despite some replaced voices, these are completely original from the Miconic 10 modernization. I did encounter a keypad within the high rise set on 2 that has weird low-pitched chimes and a low-pitched voice. I've never heard this voice before (nor seen it on YouTube), but it's certainty unique! I am not sure what caused this, but it's likely either due to the panel going bad or not getting enough power. Rather than splitting up each bank, I decided to combine everything into one video. The video timestamps are as follows: 0:00 - High Rise 2:09 - Encounter with the weird voice while riding the High Rise 7:27 - Low Rise 10:02 - High Rise (Service Car) 11:40 - Back to the High Rise 13:05 - Lobby Car 15:30 - Bonus clip of the weird voice
