Welcome back to Day 8 of our German Dynamic Conquest beginner-friendly series in Call to Arms: Gates of Hell – Ostfront! Today, we're back on defense, and there's a lot to cover! We start by reviewing our research options and finally unlocking the Panzer III, including a comparison between the Ausf. E and Ausf. F variants. During the preparation phase, we'll take a detailed look at the battlefield, identify potential enemy approaches, and establish our defensive positions. We'll cover infantry placement, unit organization, tank traps, barbed wire, anti-tank mines, and even some creative uses for demolition charges! One of the major focuses of this episode is anticipating enemy movements and using terrain, obstacles, and defensive positioning to our advantage. Once the fighting begins, things get interesting! As always, I'll walk through my thought process, explain why I'm making certain decisions, and point out things that newer players might find useful. I'm not claiming to be an expert—my goal is simply to share what I've learned and hopefully help others better understand the mechanics, tactics, and decision-making involved in Gates of Hell. We finish with a post-battle debrief, reviewing our performance, losses, rewards, captured equipment, and preparations for the next mission. If you have any questions, suggestions, or specific mechanics you'd like me to cover in more detail, leave a comment below! I appreciate everyone following along with this series.
