I Think This 5-2-1-2 Is BETTER Than the 4-3-1-2 in FC27

I’ve been using the 5-2-1-2 in FC27, and I honestly think I might prefer it to the meta 4-3-1-2. The reason is simple. You still get the central overload from having two strikers, a CAM and two midfielders — but with two attacking wingbacks, you also get proper width. And because so many players are obsessed with protecting the middle of the pitch, those wingbacks can completely stretch their defensive shape. My setup is aggressive: 3 centre-backs — Defender / Defend 2 attacking wingbacks — Attack 2 central midfielders 1 CAM 2 strikers The danger is obvious: if you lose the ball with both wingbacks forward, you can end up defending a 3v3 counterattack. That’s why right-stick switching is so important with this formation. I’m also using around 70 defensive approach. I tried 95, but it was just too aggressive and left way too much space behind. If you want a safer version, you can keep one fullback on Defend or even use a Falseback on one side while letting the opposite wingback attack. I’ve had some ridiculously open games with this setup, including matches where I’ve gone three or four goals down before finally locking in and trying to make the comeback. Sometimes I get there. Sometimes I leave it too late. And sometimes you get the sweaty rats who go three goals ahead and decide they’re never attacking again 😭 But I’m playing to have fun, and right now this is probably the most fun formation I’ve used.
