Ray Roberts Lake Camping...Scouting Our Next Boating Adventure

#RewildYourLife We headed to Ray Roberts Lake State Park Isle du Bois Unit for another Land or Lake camping weekend, but this trip had a little bit of a scouting mission behind it. We wanted to explore the park, check out the lake, and see how well it might work for a future trip with our pontoon. This weekend was all about taking it easy. We explored around the park, got the kayaks out on Ray Roberts Lake, cooked up a steak and egg dinner that may have gotten just a little too much seasoning, and eventually paddled out to a small island that can only be reached from the water. Was there some incredible hidden discovery waiting for us on the island? Not exactly. We explored for a little while, enjoyed having the place to ourselves, and then headed back across the lake. No disasters. No major surprises. Just a really enjoyable camping weekend, some time on the water, good food, even if slightly overseasoned, and another place added to our list for a future Land or Lake boating adventure. After getting a look at Ray Roberts Lake and the Isle du Bois area, we're definitely planning to come back with the boat when we get the chance.
