Route: Yajiang County (2530m) → Gaolersi Mountain Tunnel (4000m) → Xinduqiao (3300m, Photo Paradise) → Zheduo Pass (4298m, The First Gate of Kham) → Kangding County (2560m)｜G318 Southern Sichuan-Tibet Highway, Total about 147km Leaving the canyon town Yajiang, drive east on G318 and pass through Gaolersi Mountain Tunnel, bypassing the old dangerous mountain road. After exiting the tunnel, the view suddenly opens up, arriving at **Xinduqiao**, famously known as the Photo Paradise of West Sichuan. Golden poplars, traditional Tibetan houses, highland barley fields and distant mountains form classic landscape, especially stunning in autumn. Keep climbing uphill to **Zheduo Pass at 4298m**, the dividing line between Han and Tibetan culture. Prayer flags flutter in the wind. On clear days you can view the Gongga mountain range. "Zheduo" means "twisted" in Tibetan. The winding mountain road descends all the way to **Kangding**, the city of Kangding Love Song. Within 147km, altitude rises and falls repeatedly. Landscape changes from Yalong River canyon forests to highland grasslands, and finally the snow mountain viewpoint at Zheduo. Sudden rain in summer; ice and fog on pass in autumn and winter. Heavy truck traffic and countless sharp bends. Never overtake on curves. Strong wind on high pass.
