We checked into Aman Tokyo, the brand’s flagship ultra-luxury urban sanctuary situated atop the Otemachi Tower in Chiyoda, steps from Tokyo Station.
As Aman’s original vertical high-rise property, this walkthrough details the hotel’s soaring paper-lantern lobby architecture, serene Japanese design aesthetics, expansive wellness facilities, and sweeping skyline views across Tokyo.
In this walkthrough, we experience the complimentary house car transfer service from Janu Tokyo before taking the direct elevator up to the 33rd-floor lobby.
We detail the arrival process—complete with cold towels, barley tea, and traditional Japanese sweets—and examine the soaring rock-and-wood architectural features, live relaxing music performances, and panoramic city vistas overlooking Shinjuku and the Imperial Palace grounds.
We provide an in-depth tour of the Deluxe City View Room ($2,000+/night), evaluating its floor-to-ceiling skyline views, soft warm wood paneling, hidden motorized television, writing desk setup, and dark-stone bathroom featuring a traditional Japanese deep soaking tub, pink bath salts, and TOTO fixtures.
Beyond the room, we explore the sky pool and thermal bath amenities, visit the ground-floor Aman Café and sub-level Aman Patisserie, evaluate the evening lounge bar program, and review the order-to-table breakfast service at the main restaurant.
This is a calm, 4K walkthrough providing an objective look at the spaces and a straightforward assessment of the resort's value.

Our Honest Review & Recommendations:
[Soaring Architecture & Iconic Sky Sanctuary]
Aman Tokyo’s defining feature remains its breathtaking 33rd-floor lantern-inspired lobby and peaceful architectural atmosphere. The vast scale of the soaring atrium, combined with live ambient music and natural stone installations, creates one of the most serene sense-of-arrival experiences in Asia. Sweeping views across Chiyoda toward Shinjuku add a compelling high-altitude backdrop to the entire property.
[Room Ergonomics & Hardware Nuances]
The guest rooms balance traditional Japanese minimalism with premium natural materials, featuring dark stone double vanities, deep soaking tubs, and exceptionally comfortable bedding. However, hardware execution reveals notable drawbacks: the built-in window sofa lacks adequate support for prolonged sitting, the BALMUDA Bluetooth speaker offers underwhelming sound fidelity, and the vertical stick-style shower head is awkward to maneuver.
[F&B Quality & Bar Standards]
Breakfast service is well-executed with fresh order-to-table options and strong coffee presentation. The ground-floor Aman Café (notably for seasonal shave ice) and sub-level Patisserie both deliver high pastry quality. Conversely, the evening bar program fell below ultra-luxury expectations: while cocktail recipes were acceptable, drinks were consistently served with cloudy, unrefined ice rather than clear hand-cut ice spheres expected at this price point.
