Almost three decades after the migration, Kashmiri Pandits are returning to the Valley—not to resettle, but to quietly revive temples in the neighbourhoods they once called home. It’s a quit assertion of their existence. The revival is largely remote: coordinated via WhatsApp groups, video calls, and online donations. On the ground, the restoration is overseen by a network of Kashmiri Pandit employees working under the Prime Minister’s 2008 return-and-rehabilitation package. From Srinagar to Tral to Anantnag, over a dozen temples have been brought back to life in the last 5 years. Work on many more is underway. ThePrint brings you a ground report by Sagrika Kissu and Anisha Nehra.
